September Roundup

I can’t believe by the end of the week it will be October. This month flew by as have all the months recently! I’ve had a busy summer and September seemed to keep me busy as well. Almost every weekend I had something going on.

  • Labor day weekend was the Charles Street 12
  • The weekend after I started an in person CPA review course, I’m hoping being held accountable for a class will help me pass. We shall see.
  • The weekend of the 19th I attended a coworkers wedding and hung out with my cousins.
  • This past weekend we had a crab feast at work on Friday night and again I had class on Saturday. Sunday I met up with a coworker and we went to see the Intern. I just love Anne Hathaway.

Work has been busy, but it helps the days go by faster. I don’t ever feel like I’m sitting around with nothing to do. Although I don’t enjoy when everything seems to be happening all at once, that’s really no fun. I’ve started working on one of my biggest clients and I will be at the client site until right around Thanksgiving. Our office is being renovated and everyone is being shifted around to different parts while construction is going on so it’s nice to be out of the office away from that for now. By January we should be in our new desks on our new floor, seems crazy!

We are going to Disney for Thanksgiving and I bought my tickets the other day and booked my fast passes. I am starting to get really excited about it 🙂 I’m trying to plan for a vacation in April, but Southwest doesn’t have the whole month open yet to book flights. I stalk the website daily even though I know it won’t be updated for awhile. Oh well, I will just have to wait.

Things I am looking forward to in October: Baltimore Running Festival, an inflatable 5k race, and Halloween! That’s all I’ve got for you for now, maybe I’ll check in again in three weeks 😉

Friday Favorites: 9/11/2015

How is it basically already half way through September?! I swear it was just July and I was just getting ready to head to CO for an awesome vacation! Below are some of my favorite things recently:

  1. Hershey Park – Last week we went to Hershey Park for team bonding at work. I am always a little nervous with roller coasters, but my friends made me ride the worst coaster in the park second to get it out of the way. After that nothing reallllly compared. It was a great day and so much fun. We rode all the roller coasters multiple times throughout the day and I would definitely go back. It wasn’t too crowded that day and that made it perfect!
  2. Le Tote – I have a problem…that is the first step right? Admitting it. It’s true I signed up for another subscription box, but but guys it was totally worth it. I signed up in August because it was 50% off and I decided that if I didn’t like it after the first month I would just cancel. I am so glad I signed up because I loved everything in my first tote. So much so that I ended up buying one the tank tops. I see myself wearing it a lot throughout the year, under a cardigan or without. It’s plain black so I can pair so many different necklaces with it. I am already looking forward to my next tote (I’m mailing this one back on Wednesday so I should have another one after that).
  3. Stitch Fix – I took the summer off of Stitch Fix and just got a box last weekend, it was so perfect and I kept everything. Yes you read that right, I kept all five pieces. I have come close a couple of times, but this was the first time I actually did it. And I’ve already worn three of the times, what can I say when I like it, I like it.
  4. Our new place – it’s finally starting to feel like home. We were just saying last week that we can’t believe we’ve lived here for less than a month because it feels like we’ve been here forever! I have all my pictures hung and my room is coming together quite nicely!
  5. Reading – I’ve gotten back into reading before bed and I have to say I am definitely sleeping better. It gives me a time to unwind from work (because I definitely need it) and it puts me right to sleep. Anyone have any good suggestions? I’m always looking for something new to read.

And I think I’m gonna leave it at five, I somehow managed to post three times this week and that is SO unlike me! I will try to keep it up, but I’m not doing anything fun anytime soon so I may not post soon.

Charles Street 12

I came, I saw, I conquered. JUST KIDDING. I mean I did go, I did see, and I finished, but I wouldn’t necessarily say I conquered. It was an early morning. I woke up bright and early at 4:45am. I had laid out all my clothes the night before so when I got up I got dressed, stretched a little, and ate some breakfast. Alex picked me up at 5:30am and we were on our way to the office to park the car. Since the buses left from Power Plant we decided to park in the office parking garage (thanks Bri for letting us use your parking pass :)) We boarded a bus around 5:45am and by 6am we were at the start line. We thought the race started at 7am, but it actually started at 7:30am so we had PLENTY of time to prepare ourselves. Thankfully since we got there so early there weren’t many people so we could use the bathroom and just hangout before it started. Around 7am Liz and Brandon arrived so we talked with them for a while before the start. The race started at on time and we were off. I wish I had trained more/better. I knew I didn’t put my all in and it really showed. The first 6 miles are rolling hills and then a couple after that. I was not properly prepared and around mile 3/4 I started to reallllly slow down. I told Alex to keep going and not wait for me since I didn’t want to hold her back and I knew I would be fine. I ended up needed to walk A LOT, but I managed to keep all my miles under 12 minutes (except the last mile….that one was rough). My goal was to run 12 minute miles, slow but steady I told myself. I knew if I needed to walk a bit, I also needed to run faster when I did run so that was what I did. It was really nice to run through Charles St. as I spent four years of my life on Charles St.  For the first 8ish miles I knew exactly where I was, but for the miles 8-10 I kind of knew. At mile 10 we entered Fed Hill and again I knew exactly where I was. It was a little harder because I knew exactly how much farther I needed to run and it felt like it would never end. I crossed the finish line around 2:27 (not exactly positive, and I can’t find my name on the results so I don’t know my actual chip time) and my MapMyRun said 2.29.20 (for 12.25 miles, since I started it a little early and ended about two minutes after I finished). As for the weather, it got hot, very quickly. We spent a little bit of time at the after party, but Alex wanted to get home and I needed a good stretch with my foam roller. I spent the rest of the day stretching and sleeping. Welp that’s all I got for you guys.

Girls Weekend 2015: Cape Cod Edition

Wow I feel like I was just in Cape Cod, but I guess that was over two weeks ago! Where has the time gone? It seems to be flying by without me even noticing. So a couple of weeks ago I got together with some of my favorite people from college. We’ve now been out for two full years and it was time to all be in the same place at once. It was an interesting trip, but I wouldn’t have traded it for anything.

Wednesday

My alarm was set for 3:45am and I needed to be outta the house by 4am. The past two times I’ve flown this summer I’ve literally had to run to my gate to make my plane. So I figured for my 6am flight, I should be to the airport in between 4:30/4:45am. Well I arrived at 4:45am and security wasn’t even open! Thankfully it opened up right after I got in line. I had some time once I got to my flight and caught up on emails. My flight took off on time and I landed in Boston around 7:30am. I took the blue line into the city and hopped on the Ferry. Thankfully I got to sleep on my plane and on the ferry so by the time I arrived on the Cape at 10:30am I was pretty rested. Erin picked me up at the ferry and we wandered around Ptown. She parked at the Monument so we ended our day by walking up to the top. The views were beautiful and I realized (again) how much I love the beach and beach towns.

We got back to Chatham around 2pm and hopped back in the car to make the trek back into Boston. Erin forgot I was coming on Wednesday and had made plans to attend the baseball game. I had decided to stay on the Cape, go to bed early, and just veg out BUT then I changed my mind and made plans to grab dinner with Nora in the city. Nora and I wandered around the Pru and then grabbed an appetizer and drinks at Cask N’ Flagon where I ran into an old friend from Huckins. Small world I tell ya. Around 10pm we headed back to the Cape and I was glad I ended up going back into the city. It was later and I could tell Erin wanted someone to talk to in the car. We arrived back around 12:30am and headed straight for bed!

Thursday

Erin and I woke up ate some breakfast and went on our first adventure, kayaking! We headed out on a threeish hour kayak ride. We got out at the lighthouse, walked around the beach before heading back. When we got back we quickly ate lunch and then headed out for a sail with her grandparents. Her grandparents have a beach house right down the road from hers so we walked over and then spent the afternoon with them. The wind was perfect and the water was calm so the ride was wonderful. It was nice to catch up with her grandparents and learn a little about sailing. I hadn’t seen her grandparents since we think graduation so it had been a long time! After we got back, I took a very cold shower to help my sunburn (shocker right?!) and then passed out on the couch. When I woke up we ate a quick dinner and headed out with Erin’s cousin and his friends for some drinks at the Squire. We made it back home around 11pm and by 11:30pm the next guests had arrived, Nora and Cait!!

Friday

Friday we woke up to a text from Liz saying she had landed. We are all really bad at communication and thought she was coming at night, so we told her to get on a bus and make her way to the Cape. We drove to Hyannis to pick her up at 11:45am. After we grabbed Liz we headed to the grocery and liquor store to pick up all the essentials for the weekend. It was cloudy and kinda gross out so we spent the afternoon hanging out playing yard games at Erin’s. Around 2:30pm Mary made her way to the Cape and we were finally all there! Erin’s grandparents invited us over to dinner so we headed over there before the band concert. Erin told us we had to attend the band concert, so we all hopped in the car and made our way to the band concert. We stayed for one sing along and then headed to the Squire again. We grabbed a table and some drinks and all caught up. It was so nice to be with my friends and get all caught up. We even made it home before midnight. We pulled out all our snacks and devoured those pizza rolls 😉

Saturday

Saturday we woke up and wandered around Chatham before going sailing with Erin’s grandparents again. Unfortunately the weather was rainy and the water was choppy. It didn’t matter though it was all nice to hang out with friends. Saturday night when we were playing some cards, we realized Erin’s basement had flooded and not just a little water in the basement. The water was higher than our ankles!! After a couple of hours unflooding the basement we were exhausted, but mustered up enough energy to make dinner. We spent the rest of the night completely exhausted just hanging out.

Sunday

Sunday morning we woke up and it was gross out again, we ate breakfast and around noon we all headed out. Liz and I caught a ride back to the city with Mary. Mary, Liz and I spent a couple of hours wandering the city before heading back to Mary’s apartment. I took a power nap and then it was time for dinner. Liz and I headed to dinner down the street from Mary’s before taking the T to the airport and spending the rest of our night waiting for our plane to take off. Finally at 10pm our plane took off and around 12:30am I was back in my bed in Baltimore. It was an awesome weekend with some of my favorite people, but I was also happy to be back in Baltimore ready to finnnnnallly be in our apartment for more than two nights in a row.
