Day in the Life

A while back I started seeing, a day in the life posts all over the blog world. I wanted to do one as well, but then the day I decided to actually do it I hit snooze three times. Which is extremely unusual for me so I decided to scrap the idea. I guess that is kind of like being fake, only showing a day where I get up the moment my alarm goes off. But most days I do not hit snooze, usually never. My day always just feels worse if I hit snooze a million times.

Anywhooo here is a post about the day in the life of an auditor during busy season. I should state up front that my life as an auditor is very different than most others. For example, I get home a little earlier than my roommate, I spend most (if not all) days at the office, not at a clients and so on.

6:15am Alarm goes off time to take a shower

6:30am Pour a cup of coffee to enjoy while getting ready

7:30am Walk to my car to start my morning commute

7:45am Of course I get stopped at every single traffic light

8:00am Parked in my normal spot at work, unpacked my belongings, set up my workstation

8:05am Time to get to work, crunching numbers, making sure internal controls are in place. You know the exciting stuff 😉

9:00am First bathroom break

12:00pm I’m starting to get hungry so I eat my granola bar and raid the snack table

12-3pm Go to the bathroom a handful of times (I’ve been on a water kick at work)

3pm Start to get tired, is it the end of the day yet? Nope, still have 5 hours of work left

5:30/6pm Dinner break, lucky for us we get 15$ towards a meal if we work more than 11 hours

9pm I got really into what I was doing and didn’t want to put it down, finally finished my work for the day

9:20pm Back in the neighborhood, time to try to find some parking

9:25pm I got lucky someone was leaving and I sniped a decent spot where I won’t have to move my car by 7am

9:30pm First thing I do when I get home is put on my PJs, prep my coffee maker for the morning, check my email, call anyone back that I missed a call from (the usual suspects)

10:30pm I have passed out

Then I wake up and do it all over again. Busy season sure is busy, but I am enjoying it. I don’t mind working late because I am busy all day. I don’t sit around hoping for work, I am legitimately busy alllll day long. I am learning a ton! So there you have it, a day in the life of me!

Photo Dump

I’m feeling low on words so instead here is a post of my pictures recently. Most pictures are from when I was home at Christmas with my favorite siblings, but some are from back in Baltimore! Hopefully they don’t end up getting used for purposes other than being in this post.

Playing Catch Up

This weekend was spent playing catchup. Catchup with my roommate, catch up with friends…you know the drill. I got home Friday night around 8:15pm and my roommate was waiting for me! She had been away on a business trip all week and was finallllly home. She texted me saying she was headed to a friends, but would wait if I wanted to come. I had this HUGE plans to just laying in bed all night doing absolutely nothing, but knew I should be social. So she waited and as soon as I got home we headed out. I parked illegally thinking I would move my car when we got home because it would be after 10pm and I could park at Rite Aid only a block away. We had been drinking and I was feeling lazy so I decided to just leave me car, and I didn’t have a parking ticket yet.

When I woke up in the morning I was greeted with a parking ticket, oh well. I knew it was coming, I’m over it. I noticed a ton of other people with parking tickets when I left for work on Saturday so I felt a little less bad about it. I’ve learned my lesson for a while. During the week I will drive around for 30-40 minutes looking for parking when I get home from work, but Friday I was just being lazy and I was okay with that. My parking ticket was written at 4:30am, same time as my ticket a couple of weeks ago. My roommate and I think it must be someone who has a shift that starts at 4am and they hate their life so they just ticket everyone. At least it was warranted, I was parked illegally.

My roommate and I both worked all day Saturday and when I got home I just vegged in my bed. We had plans to do nothing but lay around and watch SVU and Heart of Dixie. Well right after Sara got home that friend’s house we went to on Friday texted and said she was headed to a bar relatively close to us and invited us along. Again we are trying to work on our social skills and knew we should join. We only stayed for about an hour and a half and were home by 9:30pm so it was perfect for us. We decided to watch SVU together before we both went to bed. I have missed having Sara around when she was away on work and I was so happy she was home. Living alone gets a little boring and lonely.

Sunday I slept in a little, not really that much, but enough to be content. I had made plans with Meredith to get together for lunch at our favorite sushi place. Even though she is still at Loyola and it’s extremely close we don’t get together enough. We both get busy and then forget to make plans. My goal for the rest of the spring is to get together more often. The sushi was delicious and I am glad went! I always have a good time with her even if it just to grab lunch. I spent the rest of the afternoon lounging on the couch, cleaning my apartment, and reading. The perfect way to end a weekend.

B&O Recap

B&O was a week ago, but that is not stopping me from doing a recap. A little late, but still worth it. Like I said earlier in the week I worked until 2pm on Saturday. Mary ended up walking from my house to Harbor East, a little over a mile away, but not a terrible walk. She kindly waited until I finished work and I picked her up on the way home. When we got home we spent the afternoon laying in bed catching up, it was very much needed and the perfect way to spend the afternoon. Around 5pm we decided we should probably start getting ready, but first we needed to make a trip to the liquor store. We bought a bottle of wine to enjoy while we got ready and soon after we got home Liz arrived. While we were getting ready one of my friends texted asking to share a cab to school because she was staying with a friend who lived a few blocks down from me. It worked out perfectly and saved us a little money! We arrived about 30 minutes after it started and we breezed through the line.

Our first stop after getting in was the bar. With an open bar we had to take advantage of it because our tickets were quite expensive. I was hoping to find some yummy food, but nothing was calling my name. Instead I took to finding people I knew. I ran into one person I work with first and we exchanged hellos, but I really wanted to catch up with friends I hadn’t seen in a while. I then ran into Meredith and Tissy and couldn’t wait to catch up, it had been WAY to long. I miss those guys, I still think it’s weird to not be living in the same building with them and just running up the stairs to their room whenever I want.

Next up I ran into Jenn and I was sooooooo happy to see her. She just started her job and I couldn’t wait to hear all about it. We also reminisced about our cruise and how much fun we all  had. I ran into a bunch of other people and lots of small talk was exchanged with people I didn’t reallllly care to see. That sounds mean, but isn’t that how it goes? School reunions, there are like five people you want to see and the rest are just eh. I am mean, I am over it. Overall it was a fantastic night and I was so glad to see friends I hadn’t seen since graduation.

I’m a little more broke and…

and little less in debt! I just paid off another loan. It feels really good to say that, granted the large one is still left and that is the one I’ll be paying off for the rest of my life. But it is nice to know I will only have one monthly payment for loans starting in February instead of three. Did I ever tell you when those loan payments start? Oh I didn’t, well they start on my birthday. Nothing says welcome to the real world like a 23rd birthday and a large chunk of money leaving my bank account headed to the government. I am not trying to make it sound like this was all a surprise, I knew fair well going into college that I would have loans. It’s just a part of life for some and I am okay with that. It actually makes me feel good about myself, I helped pay for my college education. Granted I didn’t pay for it then and I am paying for it now. I probably would not feel this way had I not had a job. There would be absolutely no way I could pay back my loans if I didn’t have a good full time job.

It always feels good though to pay something off, whether it be a student loan, a large credit card bill, car payments, or any type of payments.
