I can’t believe the last day of August is tomorrow. It blows my mind! So much that I am taking a look back through the summer to see what I actually got accomplished (if anything). So I took a look at my post about some goals I made earlier this summer to see what I had accomplished. When I got to check some of those things off the list such as a 5K, I read a bunch of books (I am currently on my 7th), I took
plenty of naps (not enough), kept my grades up on my class (I finished with an A-…HUGE ACCOMPLISHMENT), enjoyed my time with my grandmother, tried to blog more, and worked my butt off!
In all reality I think I achieved a lot. Running a 5K was something I almost joked about….yeah I can totally run one and maybe if I talk it up enough I will. AND I DID, AND I FINISHED IN MY GOAL TIME, AND I RAN THE WHOLE THING. Before May I had never even considered running a 5k, yes I enjoy running and wish I did it more, but actually run in a road race…ya right. Now I can’t stop looking for more to run….racers high is totally a real thing.
Books galore. I have spent so much money on books this summer and I could care less. The summer is when I get to read the most and I took full advantage of that. So much that I had an epiphany yesterday that I needed to buy a kindle and then I had a different epiphany that I need to buy a nook and I will buy one of these. So who is going to sell me on one first (ps I have used both and totally love both!)? I just decided that with all the traveling I am going to be doing, it would be the best way for me to cart around books and hopefully I will be able to read more during the school year!
A new camera…ahhh yesss I took the plunge and spent the moooola and bought a new beautiful, wonderful, awesome camera. Now all I need is a memory card so I can take more than 10 pictures at a time. Here are just some of the pictures I have taken (while trying to be artsy and creative).
So as this summer comes to an end I am sad, but I am also extremely excited for the next chapter in my life that is study abroad. In exactly 2 weeks I will be in Newcastle, England getting situated in my room!
Did you accomplish all of your goals of the summer?
What is one fun thing you did this summer?
I went to visit my friends and just enjoyed my days off!
Hellllllllo everyone!! Today I was featured at Moves ‘N Munchies on a book review I did for Something Borrowed by Emily Griffin. So go check out that post and then come back here and check out my book review for Something Blue by Emily Griffin
Something Blue by Emily Giffin
Darcy Rhone has always been able to rely on a few things: Her beauty and charm. Her fiancé, Dex. Her lifelong best friend, Rachel. She never needed anything else. Or so she thinks until Dex calls off their dream wedding and she uncovers the ultimate betrayal. Blaming everyone but herself, Darcy flees to London and attempts to re-create her glamorous life on a new continent. But to her dismay, she discovers that her tried-and-true tricks no longer apply—and that her luck has finally expired. It is only then that she can begin her journey toward redemption, forgiveness, and true love.
What: Darcy moves to London to visit an old friend Ethan. There she learns about not only herself, but also her old friend Ethan.
Where: The majority of the story takes place in London, where as in Something Borrowed the story takes place in New York.
I was told by a couple of people that this book would not live up to the first in the sequence. I didn’t listen though because I loved Something Borrowed so much that I ran to the store to buy Something Blue before I even finished Something Borrowed. I loved this book just as much! It was hard to really get into it in the beginning because I didn’t like Darcy as a character very much in the first book, but once I got about a fourth of the way through the book there was no turning back. I really admired the 180 Darcy goes through in the story. She stops being the Darcy from Something Borrowed and turns into a Darcy that cares about more than just herself and how good she looks. A 338 page book did not take me long to read, I think it took me a couple of days.
Have you read these two books?
Which one did you like better?
That is how many days I have left in this country until December. It seems completely unreal, in 21 days I will be boarding a plane to an unfamiliar country where I will only know 31 people (if I even know everyone in my program). I will be living in a 6 person flat, where I will only know one person. The other four will consist of two British students and two international students. Don’t get me wrong I am so excited for this new journey in life, but at the same time every time someone asks about it I pee my pants a little because I am so nervous. The whole trip shouldn’t be what I am nervous about. What I should be nervous about is the fact that I have not packed one thing.
Seriously…not one thing. In fact the suitcase I plan to bring still contains all the clothes I took to wear while living with my grandmother at the beginning of the summer. This again is not a joke. My brain is thinking about a thousand things a second…what to pack, what I will need, do I have to bring school supplies, who are my roommates going to be, will I get to travel as much as I want? All of these things plus more, and every day I think of something new I need to do.
The one thing I have done is bought a new camera. I bought a Nikon Coolpix S3100. I was going to go for the newer model, but decided I didn’t want a touch screen because knowing me something horrible would happen to it. So now I am just waiting
by the mailbox patiently for my camera to arrive so I can learn the ins and outs before I depart. Oh and I bought a new camera case…clearly I have gotten the important things done.
For the rest of the week (I have three amazing days off) I am going to spend as much time at the beach with my roommate, and trying to get stuff done.
As for you readers….what do I pack? What will I need, and what should I get when I am there?
Seriously I need all the help I can get!!
Have you ever travelled outside the United States for a long period of time? How long was it?
I have been to Mexico twice, but both times just for a week.
My little blog is over six months old, it feels unreal. I have learned so much about myself as well as my blog over the past six months and I am grateful for that. I have found my love for the blog world and all it has to offer!
So this post is a dedication to everyone else with blogs. Thanks for making my life a little more interesting.
Sorry for the quick post, I have been running around like a chicken with my head cut off and haven’t had time to do anything. Hopefully I can post this weekend with something a little more substantial.
hey everyone, I am currently in the process of transferring my blog to a new web host! be patient with me and I hope to have everything transferred by the middle of next week. I will keep the updates going!
