If you know me even a little bit you know that I love food. I am not super picky and can usually find something I like anywhere I go. I mentioned in my last post that I spent a week in Boston for work. Well being away for work means eating out every meal. Which isn’t awesome, but when it isn’t coming out of my wallet it’s a little easier to suffer through. Most morning were spent grabbing a croissant and a coffee/chai from the hotel market. Lunch was usually wraps from a local take-out place or a trip to the grocery store down the road. The last lunch of the week was eaten at Basta Pasta! Dinners were totally different, we actually left the building for them! There was one pretty picky eater with us and then a vegetarian so we had to watch where we ate.
Our first night we wanted to go somewhere close because we were all so tired. We stumbled into this Irish pub and the menu was large. I ended up going with a classic turkey club and I couldn’t have been happier. It was exactly what I wanted for dinner, and I didn’t have any left overs.
The second night the vegetarian of our group suggested a restaurant called Wagamamas. I immediately perked up when she said that because it is a chain in the UK and I had eaten there when I was abroad! Even though I am not super picky, I still don’t reallllly like spicy food. So I ended up getting grilled chicken with mango salsa and sides of broccoli and brown rice. I left most of the rice, but devoured everything else. I am a sucker for mango salsa
The boys of the group really wanted to go to the polish restaurant so on Wednesday night we ventured to the polish place. I knew there would be multiple items on the menu I would eat so I just went with some kielbasa. It was yummy and brought back all those times my mom made kielbasa at home for dinner.
Our last night in Boston we ventured to the North End. We waited in line outside for at least 45 minutes and were ready to eat by the time we sat down at our table. The Italian restaurant was small, but the food was good. I ended up getting lobster ravioli and it was the perfect amount of food. YUM. Our last stop of the night was at Mikes Pastry, a chocolate chip canoli was the perfect ending.
Overall the food was good and I left at the end of the week feeling like I probably gained 20 pounds.
p.s. nonfood related i can’t wait for my stitch fix box to come this weekend!!
waiting two weeks and then publishing a blog post. I’m over it. Every Thursday night I feel extremely determined to get a post up for my weekly roundup, but then I just get tired. Well here is my two-week round-up for you all.
I’ve officially been at my job for a month! All is going well, slowly I’ve been getting work. This past week I was in Boston working. It was fun to be on a business trip, but by the end of the week I was ready to be back in my own bed. I wish I could have stayed longer and seen some friends, but I needed to get back to Baltimore. Maybe I can make another trip to Boston soon!
Yaaaa about that….well I’ve been studying for my second section, but the studying is slow. VERY SLOW. I set the date to take the test, so now I feel like it’s really down to the wire (even though I have plenty of time). Still waiting on my first section scores, not looking forward to those. I will be extremely happy when all this studying and test taking is OVER!!
My life is quite boring. I spend all day at work, come home study for a little bit, then watch SVU until the ripe hour of 9pm and head to bed. The next day I do it all over again. Seriously I am lame. I am kind of okay with that though. Flag football is going well, and by that I mean we haven’t actually played a game in over a month…we suck. Last week Sara and I went out with some people from school. It was weird and almost felt like I was back in college, I am not. My body hated me the next day. This past weekend was a lot more low-key, a flag football game Saturday and then trying to get to know our neighborhood Saturday night.
Overall I am just trucking along. I will try to post more frequently, but honestly I am boring. I don’t want to give up the blog entirely I would miss it too much, but I definitely will try to be around.
I am now three weeks in, still feeling pretty good. I wasn’t assigned a lot of work at all this past week and did a lot of sitting around, trying to find things to do. It was kind of annoying and I know I shouldn’t complain about not having work because soon all I will have is work and it will never end. But have you ever sat at your desk for 4 hours trying to find things to do?? Other than that riding the bus has been awesome, I moved my car last week for the first time in two weeks. It is so handy to not have to drive, BUT will all the rain we got Thursday and Friday, the bus was the last thing I wanted to do. I just kept telling myself I was saving myself SO MUCH MONEY!
I took my first section last Saturday. It was beyond hard. I knew it would be hard I wasn’t expecting it to be easy at all, but I left feeling like I didn’t study at all. In fact I studied for two months which is pretty average for one section. Some people even study less than that. Oh well. I have started studying for my next section and plan on taking it towards the end of November, at that point I will have found out my score for the first section. If I magically pass, I will be praising the lord. If not I will immediately start studying for that section again and then take it at the beginning of January before busy season starts. oomph being a real person is hard.
Life is going well, my roommate and I still get along great! On Friday we were both craving pizza so when we saw a brief break in the rain we ordered dinner and walked to pick it up. We opened a bottle of wine and caught up on SVU episode. Pretty much our typical Friday night. I had been craving chili ALL week. We went to the grocery store Saturday morning and they were missing one ingredient for the chili. UGH. Oh well I bought mac and cheese instead and hope that suffices my craving, I don’t think it will, but that’s okay.
I am going to try to do updates like this each week, may or may not happen. Off to week four of work!
